Ariel of HambleAriel of Hamble is a Dufour 40 that's a lovely comfortable yacht, well equipped for extended cruising. Below decks, she has three double cabins, two heads (toilets/bathrooms), a large saloon (lounge area) for sharing a meal and relaxing after the day's sailing. The galley (kitchen) is well equipped with oven, fridge, hot water and all you need to prepare meals and drinks. There is a heater for those cooler autumn and spring trips. Ariel carries navigation charts, cruising guides and training manuals as well as electronic navigation ('Sat Nav' for boats) and communication systems. We have oilies (waterproof jackets and trousers) of different sizes for members to use and lifejackets onboard for your safety. Ariel is steered by a wheel just like a car and has a furling headsail ,this is the sail at the front of Ariel that easily rolls away. Winter MaintenanceEvery winter the boats are taken out of the water for maintenance which is done by members of the club to keep the costs down. It's also a great way to learn more about the boats and have a fun day out if you want to get involved! |
Ariel is fully equipped in accordance with the D.o.T. safety requirements and is inspected annually by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). Ariel carries a full set of automatic inflation lifejackets.
