Not a Member Yet?

You can be registered as a Temporary Member to still join us on trips.  Temporary members do not pay an annual club membership fee but will pay an additional £25 per day guest surcharge on top of the crewing fee. Depending on the number of days you plan to sail as a guest it might work better to become a full member. Temporary members do not get the early access to booking sailing trips as our members get.

Bringing Children With You?

Children under the age of 18 can go sailing for half the regular crewing fee on any trip and half the guest surcharge above. Children must be accompanied on the trip by a parent/guardian/responsible adult who will be made aware of our Safeguarding Policy.

Try Sail

Potential new members are welcome to come on a "Try Sail" trip before committing to join the Yacht Club. We hope the trip will give you an idea about the club, you'll have a great time, and decide to join the club for more sailing. On your "Try Sail" you will pay the same Crewing Fee as Members provided that the trip is for 3 days or less.  If your "Try Sail" is for 4 days or more you will pay an additional £25 per day surcharge for the 4th and any subsequent days.

Food & Drinks

Skippers will make arrangements for provisioning the boat for each trip at the beginning of the sailing trip. Usually breakfasts and lunches are taken on board and then the evening meal can either be cooked on board or crew can eat ashore at the end of an exciting day's sailing. The cost of provisioning is normally split between the crew at the end of the trip.

Moorings

When we stay overnight, away from our base at the Elephant Boatyard, we have to pay a mooring fee.  An overnight mooring fee varies from zero in an anchorage to about £7 - 15 per head in a marina.

Payments

You can pay by credit or debit card online. When you book on a trip you have two options:

  1. Pay immediately
  2. Get an invoice

You can pay any outstanding invoices with a credit or debit card at least four weeks prior to the start of the trip a. A reminder email will be sent five weeks prior to the start of the trip which will include a reminder to pay if payment has not already been made.

Cancellations

Please treat your booking as you would any other holiday or event booking. If for some reason you can no longer honour your booking, please contact the Crewing Secretary as soon as possible. Cancelling at short notice may put a trip at risk and there are lots of people keen to go sailing.

You will be liable to pay once the trip is within 4 weeks of the planned start date.
