Welcome to the BBC Yacht Club
Bill Joyce is the Membership Secretary. You can contact him by email at bill.joyce@blueyonder.co.uk
To join the yacht club, you must be a member of the BBC Club and there are three available membership categories: Full; Affiliate Membership; Friends & Family.
Full membership is open to: employees or contractors at the BBC, employees of one of the BBC’s partners or BBC Retired staff (who pay a reduced membership fee).
Affiliate Membership is available to ex-BBC staff (or even current BBC staff) who do not want to make use of club membership benefits apart from Connect sections - like the Yacht Club section. Affiliate Members can join the Yacht Club Section but do not get a BBC Club Membership card or any of its benefits – so they would need to get signed in to club premises, etc.
The Friends & Family membership option is open to non-BBC staff but each affiliate membership needs to be ‘sponsored’ by a full or affiliate member. This option is open to potential new members without a work connection to the BBC, i.e. they have not or do not now work for the BBC. The sponsoring member will need to pay for the Friends & Family (F&F) membership by whatever means they pay for their own; however, they can get the F&F member to contact the club directly and pay the fees annually.
Central club membership for each F&F member is half of whatever a full, sponsoring member pays. So, for a full-time member the F&F membership fee is £60 per annum; if the sponsoring member is retired then the F&F membership fee will be less. On top of the Central Club fee they would also need to pay £50 for their BBC Yacht Club membership. This means then that a F&F member sponsored by a full-time club member would pay £110 per annum (£60 for the central club membership and £50 for the yacht club membership) to join the Yacht Club section.
To arrange a Friends & Family membership, the full or affiliate member should contact the central club directly (see below) and provide the following details for the F&F member:- name, address, DOB, email and telephone contact details. Then the F&F member can contact the club to arrange payment of the Central Club fee and the Yacht Club fee.
The central club can be contacted via e-mail: mailto:bbc.club@bbc.co.uk ; or telephone: 020 875 26666.
For further details and to join the club online, please see the membership page on the BBC Club website. NB membership for family and friends cannot currently be done online; please contact the club as above.
Yacht club membership for full BBC Club members should be paid online through the BBC Club website.
